| System Summary: | Each pallet that is collected from Light Machining, Heavy
Machining or returned from a subcontractor in Goods is identified with
a bar-coded label. The pallets are moved by forklift truck past a booking point where the driver uses the hand held scanner to capture the information on the labels. The scanner is returned to the cradle before the driver continues in to the Assembly Hall. When the device is returned to the cradle, the transaction details are automatically removed from the device and transferred to the AS/400 via DcFlex. Once on the AS/400, the details are used to update BPCS using DC-CONNECT. The DC-CONNECT script signs on to BPCS and uses the appropriate BPCS data entry routine for the transaction being processed. Once the transaction is collected on the scanner and the scanner is returned to the cradle, all processes to post the transaction into BPCS are automatic and require no user intervention. |
