Hashimoto Customer Solution

Phase I

Host System: PC based application
Data Capture Hardware: PC running Windows based data collection function written specifically for Hashimoto.
System Location: Manufacturing Department
System Summary: A Manufactured Goods Input Matrix, developed for the PC, provides simple data entry against product type and colour. As each load is completed the information collected on the matrix is:
  • Written to a database for later use by transactions collected on the scanners (Phase II)
  • Downloaded to the PC based application
  • Printed on a Load Sheet along with a unique Load Sheet serial number.

Phase II

Host System: IBM AS/400
Host Application: JBA System/21
Data Capture Hardware: Symbol PDT6800
Symbol PDT6800 (batch) barcode scanners
System Location: Finished Goods Warehouse
System Summary: The scanners are used to scan the load sheet number (from Phase I) as the load is received into the Finished Goods Warehouse. The product information for the load is retrieved from the database and issued to DcFlex for upload to the AS/400.
On the AS/400 DCCONNECT provides the interface with System/21 and uses the System/21 published data entry routines.
Once the transaction is collected on the scanner and the scanner is returned to the cradle, all processes to post the transaction into System/21 are automatic and require no user intervention.
